Substrate from an existing biogas plant in the surrounding area was used for the first practical test of the fermenter technology of the innovative “Small biogas plant textile” research project. In normal operation, the digester receives its material from the cattle farm of the local agricultural machinery school. The processing of the solid manure takes place in the container solution developed by Finsterwalder and then feeds the fermenter.

The technology container contains an inline shredder for fibers such as straw, a Finsterwalder KP10 feed pump, a separator for non-fermentable components and an external fermenter heater. The demonstration plant, which is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, aims to develop an easy-to-transport and inexpensive solution for smaller farms. An electrical output of approx. 25-50 kW is targeted. The project is managed by AGROTEL GmbH, other cooperation partners are: Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik GmbH, Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture, Agricultural Education Center Landshut-Schönbrunn
